Base camping

Hi 8-)

If you play with 2 or more teams and you have a lot of players camping at their bases.
What would you do against it ?

Special Rules seems a good Idea, f.e. if base is destroyed everybody has to leave except defending team.

What are the most competitive base layouts ? closed bases or with lots of openings ?

Re: Base camping

Hi Actional,

Are you talking about specifically competitive lasertag, or do you mean standard customers/casuals as well?
I aim to misbehave.

Re: Base camping

We had (or rather: have) the same problem with our group (casual players, striving to be competitive as soon as it is possible in germany)

We tried the following rule: If either the destruction or the failed-sound plays, all players of attacking teams have to leave the base.

This gave us a few problems:
- the sound is sometimes too quiet to get the attention of the players during a game
- the players are too engaged with taking the base to obey the rule
- our site has very closed bases with only 2 entrances and a few vorners inside, so it creates a lot of chaos in a base with multiple people comming in / leaving

The problem i have with the rule is, that it is not really enforcable without a technical solution, you would need a ref for that.

So i'm still open to suggestions and am very interested in this thread :)

Re: Base camping

Hey guys,

So a standard Australian Nationals rule is Base Evacuation... forgive me if you already know about this.

- If a player gets deactivated in a base area, they must leave as soon as possible
- If a player reactivates in a base area, they must leave before being able to shoot
- A deactivated / out of health / out of power player must not enter a base area

That pretty much sums it up... I'm probably forgetting something...

Is this something you guys have tried?

Re: Base camping

Old systems (Z, T) had bases whit retaliation shot after somebody destroyed it. That was nice way to clear base area. That would be nice feature to Nexus/Helios bases too.

Base evac rule is used in comp games, usually members night. Regular games no rules.
Trust me, I know what I'm doing

I believe some formats in Nexus/Helios DO have retaliation... I believe if you set Base Mode to "Aggressive", then they'll tag back when hit.
Been ages since I've tried it though, so I may be mistaken - I think it might be on the "Standard Team Pro" format, and a few other "fun" ones.

Re: Base camping

Yeah ^ defensive/aggressive bases are a thing. Should be a 'base mode' parameter for supported formats.
